Early works for the Harry Butler Science Centre, a key part of our campus development plan aimed at strengthening research, learning and community engagement, commenced yesterday, 25 August.
From this date, construction activity will begin in and around Car Park 7 and is expected to continue through to the end of 2026. [View fenced construction zones around Car Park 7]
What’s happening?

Site establishment: Fencing will be installed around the eastern portion of Car Park 7 to secure the construction zone and prepare for upcoming works.

Demolition of Building 492: This will clear the way for the new Harry Butler Science Centre, making space for innovation and infrastructure.

Construction traffic: Expect increased vehicle movement in the area, especially during the initial setup phase.

Campus layout and site details
The new Harry Butler Science Centre will be located south of Discovery Way, occupying part of the current bushland and extending the academic core from Boola Katitjin toward the wetlands. The site will feature a series of pavilion-style buildings and landscaped connections that integrate with the surrounding ecological systems.
The interface with Discovery Way is a key focus, with upgrades planned to improve accessibility and pedestrian flow. Follow the transformation.
