16 Apr 2013Announcement to all staff from the Vice Chancellor – Tuesday 16th AprilDear Colleagues, You will be aware from recent media reports that the Federal Government has announced $2.3 billion of funding cuts to universities and student support from 2014 onwards. The cuts will strip $900 million from universities directly with the remainder of the burden falling on students. This reduction in funding comes less than six months after $1 billion of cuts to the university system were announced in the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook.

Consequently the application closing date for Academic Study programs to be considered for the 2014 calendar year has been extended to 1 June 2013. The details of the new policy will be available at the end of April.

Neal brings with him a wealth of experience as a researcher in Plant Ecology and a successful supervisor of more than 30 PhD and MPhil students. Neal has undertaken a number of senior academic roles here and at the University of Melbourne.
