The first video in this series has been developed, and we invite you to watch a powerful interview with Liat, a Murdoch student who is part of the Deaf community. Liat shares her experiences and insights on how being Deaf has shaped her time at Murdoch University, shedding light on the importance of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and the role it plays in creating understanding, respect, and inclusion.
Why this matters
Last year, 32 students and staff took the introductory Auslan course to better support our diverse community. These awareness sessions are just the beginning of our efforts to create a campus where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.
This video is part of a broader initiative to support students and raise awareness about the unique challenges they face. By showcasing these stories, we hope to inspire reflection on how we can all contribute to building an even more inclusive and supportive environment.
