Murdoch Philosophical Colloquium 2014

The Murdoch Philosophy Program in conjunction with the School of Arts invites all Murdoch University staff and students to attend the 10th Murdoch Colloquium.

The theme of this year’s Colloquium is 'Philosophy Across Traditions' showcasing the diversity of Philosophy across Perth’s universities and fostering dialogue between different approaches.

Time: 10am – 5pm

Location: Brian Hill Lecture Theatre, Murdoch University

Barry Maund (University of Western Australia): Philosophising about Visual Perception (Keynote Address)

Miri Albahari (UWA): Investigating the possibility of nibbāna

Laura D’Olimpio (UNDA): Philosophy for Children and the general capabilities

Michael Rubin (UWA): Moral Perception and Epistemic Access

Greg Schofield (MU): Philosophy, Social Evolutionary Theory & Writing Ethno-History

Matthew Sharpe (Deakin): Poetic imagination in Science, before the two cultures divide               

Clas Weber (UNDA/UWA): Self-location and the Objects of Belief

Heath Williams (MU): Phenomenological description and enargeia

 The Colloquium will be followed by drinks, nibbles and more discussion at the School of Arts common room. We will conclude the evening with a collegial dinner in Fremantle, location tba.
